The Artist’s Way

Julia Cameron’s book has really helped me to be more creative. She uses a 12 step model to create a recovery of your creativity. Her tools include keeping “morning pages”. Morning pages are a journal of the subconscious mind that you spew out and get out of the way in order to clean the slate. At least that is how I think of it. Sometimes I come up with great ideas but usually it is just a lot of the things that are not working in my life that come up. This can be a good thing because it lets me know what I need to change.
In the 12 chapters there are exercises that allow you to look at how your creativity might have been stifled. By the time you are done examing the past for clues you might be surprised you have been able to be creative at all. This book is for artists and for anyone who wants to be more creative and less blocked. I is about self acceptance and exploration.
